Emergency Service
In cases of acute illness, urgent veterinary consultation or in emergencies which occur outside our opening hours, you are welcome to use the following service number: 09001 – 633366 (2,99 Euro/min. from a German fixed network; varying prices from German mobile networks). If you cannot reach anyone there, please contact one of the surrounding veterinary clinics. Your pet will have 24-hour access to available veterinary care services. Please note that there may be considerable waiting times in the emergency services clinics and increased costs will be incurred.
For regular (also short-term) appointment arrangements and all other inquiries, please call the following number during our clinic opening hours: 06171- 633366. Thank you.
For all first-aid measures, the following applies:
– Keeping calm
– Protecting yourself
– Initial first aid treatment according to possibilities available on site,
– Then immediate transport to the vets, announce your arrival (leave).
Acute Paralysis
Carefully and securely store the patient on a firm support (board or similar), do not tamper with the spine!
Eye Injury
– Do not remove the foreign bodies from the cornea,
– For acid burns, rinse with body temperature water (e.g., in Germany, use warm tap water),
– Prevent chafing and rubbing of the eye by the animal
Eyeball Incidents
Cover with cold wet cloth
Unconsciousness
– Remove the tongue (for example, by hand)
– Unblock the airways
– Remove vomit or blood from mouth and throat
– Lower the head slightly
Bleeding
– Compress or clean tissue on wound
– Bind the limbs with a gauze bandage or belt
Heatstroke
– Move the animal immediately into the shade or to a cooler place
– Wrap in wet, cold towels
– Carefully moisten with a lot of cool water
Bone Fractures
– Keep the limbs immobile with a firm, elongated object
Burns
– Immediately allow cold water to run over it for at least 15 minutes
– Do not apply ointments or similar
– Transport covered with a damp, clean cloth
Poisoning
– Prevent any further poisoning
– Bring available toxic material or packaging
– Remember to protect yourself!
Wounds or organs exposed by open wounds
– Cover with a damp, clean cloth
– Protect the animal from further injuries, e.g. self-mutilation by the animal (e.g., licking)
